    It was a long night of worrying but our NSWO-Northern Saw Whet Owl patient has survived the first night. This tiny owl struck a glass window and is suffering from the impact which has caused a concussion and currently a spinal injury. We always hold concern regarding internal bleeding which can quietly sweep them away and often they choose to leave us during the dark hours of the night. Every morningl get up with a flutter in my heart as I make my way to the critical care ward in “please please please” mode. Each day/night cycle increases his chances of survival and it’s really not up to us rehabilitators. We can only provide a safe space and supportive care/meds while each patient faces the battle of life or death. We are really hoping this little one pulls through!! But honored to help him either way. Send healing his way!!! He could use some.
