It seems like nothing they say matters anymore. Some Republicans want to get rid of Medicare. You would think this would lose them massive votes among the elderly, their biggest constituency. But it just doesn’t seem to matter.

Whenever someone who is vehemently against any kind of “progressive” idea like abortion, socialized healthcare, etc. quickly change their tune when it comes to something directly affects them. Hell, even the pateon saint of libertarianism, Ayn Rand, took advantage of Social Security and Medicare in her old age.
Yeah but Ayn Rand said, that is in tune with Libertarianism, because its all about being a selfish asshole or something. (She said it differently, but that is ehat it boils doen to)
Because they aren’t taking Medicare away from the elderly. They’ve been proposing to take it away from gen x and future generations. The boomers still get theirs under all the proposals I’ve seen.
It’d be stupid, but it’s love for someone to run on the platform of immediately defunding Medicare just to see the heads spin, and expose the hypocrisy

She said altruism was evil. And people on the right eat that shit up.
Yet they are more religious… I guess altruism is just too big of a word for them…
