Summary

Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) called on Trump to fire Justice Department staff involved in prosecuting cases against him, framing it as necessary “accountability” for perceived abuses.

Schmitt also expressed support for Trump’s proposed attorney general nominee, Pam Bondi, emphasizing her qualifications.

Trump has pledged to use the Justice Department to prosecute political adversaries and pardon January 6 rioters if elected.

Critics, including Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), stressed the importance of the DOJ focusing on crime reduction rather than political retribution.

For appointments it’s a non-starter for sure. For other “low level” positions I think it’s worth it to make a stink. Lying to the public is one thing but lying in court is another. The more they appear in court the more they get caught in lies and get disbarred or worse.
