Google recently brought a charging limits feature to Pixel phones, and the company quietly revealed that it occasionally ignores this toggle.
The reason:
Yep 100%. On my Zenfone 8 at first I blocked the battery to 80% and quickly I found the battery got very short. All I had to do to fix the issue was a full battery cycle (100-0-100). What I noticed doing this is that it lasted for an absurd amount of time at 1% which indicates me that it was decalibrated. After the procedure the battery life was more at normal levels again
Batteries are already limited by their own controller, so this makes sense. Further limits really only make sense for devices that spend all their time on a charger.
I would tend to disagree with that as I’ve had devices in the past that I let charge to 100% and would notice battery degradation very quickly and with my current device I’ve kept my charging at 80% and my battery has done really well. I cycle my battery between 80% and 30% usually and sometimes it will get down to like 25% before I plug it in.
