Edit: ok, I remembered wrongly. 96 was as close as they could measure human body temperature. I always thought it was the other way. I’m still not clear on why 100f was chosen.
Well, there is a significance to 100f, it’s the human body temperature. Hotter days = potential danger maybe?Either way, it’s another base 10, not 12!

Human body temperature is 98.6f
