minus-square@homura1650link2•3 days agoMost of the Golan Heights was occupied in 1967, and annexed in 1981 (in a move that most of the world still does not recognize as legitimate). As far as I can tell, the settlements being discussed are still in that region, not the newly occupied region.

Yup. Now taking bets on how long until they need a new buffer zone.
Ultimately they want that to be up by the Turkish border.
The new buffer zone will be Jordan.
Most of the Golan Heights was occupied in 1967, and annexed in 1981 (in a move that most of the world still does not recognize as legitimate).
As far as I can tell, the settlements being discussed are still in that region, not the newly occupied region.
