The shields are called Celtic in style, but the raid from which they were captured was on boats constructed on the Baltic coast and occurred on Als, just off the east coast of mainland Denmark. Does this tell us that what we attribute to Celtic culture was much more widespread, or that the attack force may have been Celts?
