I would say that needlessly shitting on things is the most defining characteristic of YouTube comments

I guess you don’t visit youtube then. Because its comments are mainly memes (like 95% of it), reference to some funny moments in the video or additional info related to it

You’re right that I try to avoid YouTube, partially due to its well earned reputation for having toxic comments, but mainly due to the fact that 99% of its content is trash I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. But sure everyone is wrong. yt comments are fine and so was your whining here

If you spend your time on youtube shorts or trending sure it’s thrash. But I mainly watch math and science contents which is sometimes better than real courses and there is an uncountable quantity of knowledge on there

Yes just like on cable television, there’s some excellent content among the vast majority of it which is absolute shit. There are millions of videos and a tiny percent of those are great

Well pick the good content then. Most social networks will have that when used by large amounts of users

Linux in a boomer meme? Wrong.

I get in some places, spouting negativity gets upvotes, but you ain’t on xitter or reddit, buddy.

No reason to strawman. And anyway yes linux is not that recent.

Facebook is full of this thrash and it’s one of the reasons I avoid it. Lemmy has its own content which is better

This is not a strawman. I’m not misrepresenting your argument. I’m highlighting you’re being a negative fuck and there are other places for that.

Boomers don’t know what Linux is, they can barely use computers. I wouldn’t know one that would understand a meme about Linux.

Seems you’re going to be negative and double down.

I’m mostly with you about the negativity being unwelcome here, but I just have to point out: Richard Stallman is a boomer. Boomers literally created Linux from whole cloth.

Ageism is also negativity. Please try to avoid it.

Yes. I’m pretty sure Stallman isn’t on Facebook. Doesn’t even browse with JS enabled.

I do agree but I cannot say many in the demographic are on Lemmy…

It’s a strawman because I never said that linux is a boomer meme but that the meme format is boomer
