I was hoping it wasn’t overly complicated. I guess I am thinking up theories since the justice system seems so eager to make an example out of Luigi, due to his popularity with the public (or their fondness for people in power). But I also think the justice system’s over reaction to Luigi (terrorism charge/federal charges) will create more animosity amongst the public directed at them.
I don’t think they’re overreacting to Luigi. They throw as many charges as they can at basically everyone. The US has a very long history of this sort of malicious prosecution to try and extract guilty pleas. It’s endemic in the system.
