Recent events starting the new year are not good nor funny though, it was almost certainly (investigation ongoing though) related to the New Orleans attack.

Apparently the Cybertruck that exploded had fireworks and fuel tanks inside, and the truck itself was rented from the same Turo app. They highly suspect it was another act of terrorism, no fault of the Cybertruck itself.

As much as I thought this would end up being a meme, if it does, it’s not a good one. As Billy Joel said, “We didn’t start the fire”, well let’s not try to spread the fire either.

If anything, share the link I posted from Adam Mockler, keep up with the news, watch out for yourself, friends, family and neighbors, and let’s all please try to have a good new year.

Edit: Added Adam Mockler’s link to his reporting on the New Orleans tragedy.

I by no means want to make light of a terrorist incident, but that is a stupid plan. 9/11 set the bar pretty high for terror. Driving a truck through a crowd is basically at the same level as one angry psychopath. I mean, our own kids do worse in their own schools, so it really was a pointless act. It barely even registers on the terror meter for me. Terror just doesn’t work. Even 9/11! All that did was piss us off to the point of re-electing Dubbya. And now we have the TSA. I suppose if the goal was to make us suffer in the long term, I guess they won there.
