Summary

Twelve people, including two children, were killed and four seriously injured in a shooting spree in Cetinje, Montenegro, on New Year’s Day.

The gunman, Aleksandar Martinović, 45, opened fire in a bar following a fight and continued shooting at multiple locations before turning the weapon on himself after being cornered by police.

Authorities ruled out organized crime but highlighted Martinović’s history of violent behavior.

Montenegro declared three days of mourning, and officials are considering stricter firearm regulations in the wake of this “terrible tragedy.”
