It’s reddit. As in reddit right now reddit. Just without the ads.

Also the entire point of federated networks is decentralization, if any one instance is too big, it risks snowballing into the only populated instance.

big, it risks snowballing into the only populated instance.

…which has been happening for a few months now. 90% of the newcomers join LW, either because someone recommends it to them or because they just don’t care about decentralization or don’t understand federation.

LW should actually close their registrations down for a while, but I guess they just don’t want to (iirc the admins acted pretty ignorant). It is very concerning that most active communities are in LW or Lemmy.ml.

It’s definitely better to have the existing mods onboard than to try to compete with the existing community, which is why I asked you.

Not sure if you ping went through, so I’ll ping @[email protected] too.

Still a bit surprised you guys don’t have discussions regarding the community, that’s usually how we do it in the ones I mod, but you do you.

Any plans to move [email protected] to another instance?

No. What would be the point? There’s already one on .ml, and another one I’ve seen on a smaller instance.

We do. Periodically we get the community involved in deciding the rules. Rule 6 was recently introduced after a community poll.

Reduce the influence of LW on the whole platform. Quite relevant due to their last announcement (which they just edited 20 minutes ago, seems like they want to rephrase it)

                As someone else said

This is like the third time LW tried to be front-and-center in deciding how conversations should happen on Lemmy. You are the most popular Lemmy instance and most content is on your instance. This isn’t an experimental safe space instance to dictate how social media should work. Please understand that any weirdly aggressive stances you take affects everyone.
