That’s the goal, they don’t want people talking about it in any other way besides official propaganda talking points, ideally bickering along left/right circle jerk.
I think the thing that scared them the most was the left and right in perfect agreement against them. Their greatest fear is the lower classes coming together and finally participating in the class war they’ve been running.
Maybe it’s a different era of Reddit, but they’ve always showed double standards with things like this. Nobody in the site management batted an eyelid over Elliot Rodger’s 137 page incel manifesto, nor did they really give a shit when uncut ISIL execution videos were being openly posted on r/WatchPeopleDie.
