The U.S. plans to approve an arms package for Israel, including artillery shells, precision bombs, and GPS systems, though production and delivery could take years; Meanwhile, heavy bombs and bulldozer shipments face delays due to concerns over impact on civilians in Gaza

8B / 350M is only like $22 per person. Sending weapons to help Ukraine fight an oppressive nation or sending weapons to Israel to be oppressive to Palestinians isn’t really affecting your tax.

What you want is for corporations and billionaires to pay their fair share of taxes.

Edit: I don’t think it’s productive to a discussion if you downvote a comment without telling the person why. Clearly y’all don’t agree but are not willing to put across your side.

Yeah, Lemmy doesnt do discussion very well, it feels like a bunch of 15yos who just discovered the idea of socialism/linux/veganism and its now the answer to all the worlds problems. All of them.

Any discussion about why there might be some nuance to the situation just isnt worth the ball ache.

you can do that whether the law exists or not. laws don’t stop that. they do, however, disproportionately punish the already marginalized classes, while serving the interests of the powerful.

I could, but the risk reward for such an action when we have lows in place prevents me from doing it. I don’t not do things simply because they’re illegal, I break many laws all the time, I don’t do certain things because the punishment isn’t worth the reward of killing your family.

If we have a system of no laws then I would be more inclined to do it as your resources to find me are negligible compared to the states resources.

Now I do agree that many laws disproportionately affect the poor in our society, but I would look for reform of the system rather than abolishing it.

This is a somewhat selfish take, and although I don’t agree with a punitive justice system as I believe reform will lower the victims of crime more than punishing someone, as you should be thinking about the larger society and how me being off the streets means I can’t blow up someone else’s house. Sure it doesn’t get your house or family back, but it is better for society.

I’m afraid I don’t understand. Like I understand the words but not what you’re trying to say.
