Summary

Mark Zuckerberg ended Meta’s factchecking program on Facebook and Instagram, replacing it with user-submitted “Community Notes,” similar to Twitter.

The move is part of a broader shift to the political right, aligning with Donald Trump’s incoming administration.

Zuckerberg criticized factcheckers as “politically biased” and promised fewer “censorship mistakes.”

Meta has also elevated conservatives to key roles and moved content moderation operations from California to Texas, mirroring Elon Musk’s strategies.

While the changes may alienate liberals and some advertisers, analysts expect minimal financial impact on Meta.
