First time seeing one of those online I commented that it looked like plasticky Chineseum. Looks like the head would just snap off. Other folks said they’re actually great axes. Anyone?
I have a fiskars branded one and it’s a great axe. The balance is much better than a wood handled one, since the center of gravity is closer to the head it feels like the head maintains more momentum as you swing and more of your swing energy is transferred into the wood. It’s hard to describe but I much prefer this style, it just feels more efficient. Plus mine has held an edge really, really well and hasn’t rusted much at all (and I’m rough on it) but that depends on the steel they use more than the handle design.
