Lemmy mods are pathetic and ban happy, like all internet janitors

    That’s the joke

I’ve seen what unmoderated platforms look like, so, not being an ungrateful POS, I only complain about mods when it’s convenient to me in the moment.

        They look like 4chan

not sure if you are joking but 4chan isn’t unmoderated either. just has a much more bare bones philosophy.

/b/ has no moderation other than removal of child abuse and other illegal stuff. There are no rules on that board

And lets be honest, when people say 4chan, they mean either /b/ or /pol/

totally. but i think it’s important to let people know even /pol/ and /b/ have mods. someone the other day told me non-moderation is the “default option” for internet spaces and i think that deep and ahistorical misconception can lead to poor leadership if left unchallenged.

I think that might be the reason why lemmy.world admin forced loose moderation policy on everyone recently.

That’s true for sure. Lemm.ee is better than some other instances in that regard, it’s federated to all the major ones. Lemmy.world also announced moderation changes recently, which seem to be going in a positive direction.
