Ah, gotcha. I’ll take fanservice over the character trope of a character who’s entire personality is sexually harassing or spying on women, but I don’t generally like it when it feels like directorial choices are being made that don’t fit/aren’t in service of what the media is actually about, or directorial choices that remind me I’m watching a piece of media.

A lot of times fanservice feels at odds with the general vibe, or is executed in a fashion/frequency that makes me think about the director sitting somewhere making choices on the basis that they think I wanna see boobs in every shot

Like weirdly I think it was more of an issue in ghost in the shell (the show), than in kill la kill. Kill la kill was still gratuitous, but it wouldn’t really work if it weren’t, and while I prefer serious media, it being a less serious show I don’t care about immersion as much

It sounds like it may still be worth checking out though, I might have to give it a try at some point :)

Overlord is an isekai, where the main character is the main villain trying to take over the world. And he has a bunch of NPC underlings from his evil RP guild.

It’s fantastic. Be aware that season 2 drags but the show picks up again after. Feel free to skip the “lizard-man-arc” entirely. (Though it does have some sick fights and moments)

Generally it achieves a great balance between dead serius plot, funny, fanservice, and intense action.

Oh and the women in the series wear battle armor that actually covers them up.

        Same character from the post.

Interesting, no idea if that’s my cup of tea but maybe I’ll give it a shot

Thanks for the detailed recommendation! :)

I think most people can find something about the show to really like. It’s one of a kind.

It’s typical in thes sense that Ainz and his underlings are ridiculously overpowered in this new world they’ve been transported to, so there’s never tension about whether they’ll lose a fight.

Rather, the intrigue of the show comes from how the denizens of Nazarick go about manipulating the villages, cities, tribes and eventually entire nations into falling under their rule. It’s about economics, geography, culture, politics, and even the logistics of then running what amounts to a multi-cultural empire that includes citizens all the way from undead to human.

Huh… I think that kinda show might not make my social anxiety happy to watch 😅 it sounds stressful lol

I’ll take a look at it at some point though, it definitely sounds like an interesting show :)

Overlord fans correct me if I’m wrong but Ainz (main character who’s this OP skeleton) usually just kinda goes along including a scene where I’m pretty sure he gropes albedo but she was the one to initiate it

Again this is from memory while smashing the fast forward button cus family was near and this was before I know how dansevice it was gonna be

He gropes her once, in episode 1. He does it to test whether he is still in the VR game, since sexual actions are not allowed in the VR game.

Because he was able to do it, he realizes something has changed, and in the same moment Albedo starts acting like a person instead of a simple NPC.

Ainz is immediately flustered and nothing like it really happens again.

(Unless we count off-screen Albedo trying take Ainz to bed by force that one time)
