Summary

Undocumented immigrants play an important role in disaster recovery, rebuilding communities after wildfires, hurricanes, and floods.

Many are highly skilled laborers or manual workers, often enduring dangerous conditions and exploitation.

Trump’s plans to deport millions of undocumented immigrants could severely hinder recovery efforts, as immigrants make up a significant portion of the construction workforce.

Employers warn that deportations will worsen labor shortages in disaster zones, while some advocate expanding the H-2B visa program to fill gaps.

Trump has owned hotels and casinos for decades now, and hotel housekeeping and groundskeeping are among the most common occupations for undocumented immigrants, so Trump is fully aware of the role that they play.

The thing is though that this has never really been about undocumented immigrants. It’s really just a strategy to divide the common people against themselves so that we can’t effectively oppose the coming autocracy.

    And it’s working.
