I just got Dark Souls II (Scholar ver) and at first I was disappointed because the movement was faster than 1. Then I started combat… The game is very obviously on steroids. Its going like 120 fps, or twice the speed. (The menues are very snappy lol)
My character isn’t just fast, the entire game is. Dude looks like he’s throwing the fastest pitch in history when he casts a sorc arrow. That big guy in the intro is flying around like a puppy jumping and rolling like I just walked thru the door.
Every search results in people completely misunderstanding the problem. It’s not the character speed. It’s the entire game. Ive tried restarting a couple times and it’s still there.
Any ideas?
Maybe try this?

If you use this, be sure to only use it in offline mode. DS2’s anti-cheat is VERY finicky and will permanently shadowban you from online play for really simple/reasonable stuff like popular controller input wrappers, SweetFx, ReShade, etc: https://old.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/3gxv71/psa_things_that_can_get_you_permanently/
Looks like that particular mod is ok. I don’t play online at all though.
That’s for upping fps, now lowering them. Ill look into it though, maybe it’s got a down option
I’m guessing Darksouls 2 was made for console with the cardinal sin of tying the physics rate to the framerate which presumably was locked at 30 FPS. Since most modern systems can run Darksouls 2 at +30 FPS, it messes with every calculation that is frame dependent (player speed, animations, damage, etc.). The mod should untie those calculations from the framerate and make the game playable at +30 FPS.
If you want to lock the framerate at 30 FPS regardless, use your graphics card software (i.e. Nvidia Control Panel) to either activate Vsync (double buffer for 60 Hz screens) or to lock the framerate for Darksouls 2 directly.
