It’s not just a desire path but also a shortcut that saves you 7km. They are trying to block it but it’s coming back on the side.

Edit: Update, how it’s going…

7km?! Why the hell are they blocking it

I reached out to them, made a case about it. I’ll post an update here once I hear from them.

But yes, it’s 7km so people walking and cycling are pushing through.

I cycled almost knee deep through water a couple of months ago to avoid a shorter distance than that.

Don’t doxx yourself with a screenshot or anything but is it two very long paths running side and the only “official” cutover is an intersection?

I’m so confused why any city planner would do this…but I guess I’ve seen a lot of poorly-planned stuff

Welcome to Southeast Asia! In some countries here road planning is an afterthought. Pedestrian or cyclist access is optional.

I’ve seen it a few times, both of the developers do better planning on their side (not great, just better) but when it comes to connecting to a neighboring area, not such a great job.

This desire path is right in the middle, so without it, it’s a 7km journey left or right from where the picture was taken to the other side.

That’s crazy. Keep knocking those bushes down!

I did. They do not intend to build a proper path. They claimed they would close it due to “safety” reasons.

That’s what they said. However, and I should probably get a picture of it, they have done nothing. The concrete block they placed was likely pushed down on the floor, where is remains. The new desire path is doing great and has a steady traffic 🤭.

haha nice. start bringing 1 flat rock with you at a time and you can easily build your own path, especially if others see what you’re doing.
