A lot of loopholes now used were because they knew it was an imperfect start and assumed that when problems were found or new laws needed the Constitution would be changed. In some cases we’ve done that, in many we haven’t. I think one of the founders wanted to include mandatory revisions over a period, but again the general presumption was that we’d see the need and do it without being forced to.

Thomas Jefferson, for his many faults, thought each generation should rewrite the constitution to reflect their views and keep it modern.

Many faults? The dude peace’d out to France, partied with the local nightlife, got drunk, got laid, and still found time to be a founding father.

If everybody listened to him, the constitution would be rewritten, and we’d all be drunk and having sex at work.

        What’s the fault?
