GitHub Issues:
- Support for video embeds #709.
- Support HTML tags in markdown #498 -> Closed Issue that talks something that could work.
Conclusions:
- YT/Piped links don’t work.
- Embed links don’t work.
- FIle links work, both player and download links.
okay, I see what you are trying here : the YouTube video does not show the same as the one from 4chan… so I try to look at this YouTube, but from piped.video :
https://piped.video/watch?v=q5xDoF2pOuY
… or this ?

https://piped.video/watch?v=GWgfNqzhWQM
… but I believe it does not help.
I think it’s because Lemmy can only source files, so the link has to be to a file. IDK how YT and Piped work, but the link must be some sort of address that the server looks up to actually fetch the file itself, but it doesn’t provide a link for the file.
Markdown should support video embed though, so I assume this can be implemented.
I tried to find such a file here but it seems it’s not working :
<img src=“https://pipedproxy.kavin.rocks/vi_webp/GWgfNqzhWQM/maxresdefault.webp?host=i.ytimg.com” />
…from web page :
https://pipedapi.kavin.rocks/feed/unauthenticated/rss?channels=UCsQnAt5I56M-qx4OgCoVmeA
this is outside of my knowledge domain
I wish you good luck with that work
Yeah :c Thanks!!
comment deleted - - I posted one comment twice because the server was lagging
