Summary

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has barred Jan. 6 rioters from state employment, countering Donald Trump’s mass pardons.

In a directive, Pritzker declared their actions “infamous and disgraceful,” emphasizing that government employees must uphold democratic values.

Trump’s sweeping pardons included Proud Boys and Oath Keepers members convicted of seditious conspiracy.

The move is expected to face legal challenges, but Illinois officials believe the personnel code provides strong legal footing.

Pritzker, a longtime Trump critic, has also opposed other recent federal actions, including a blocked freeze on federal aid.

It’s a prerequisite for employment. Some jobs require a college degree. Some jobs require a certain amount of experience in the field. Some jobs require that you have not tried to overthrow the government.

Also worth mentioning that a presidential pardon commutes the sentence and ends jail time, but does NOT expunge one’s criminal record.
If a j6’er has a felony record from the event, that will still appear on background checks for employment including with state orgs. It’s a get out of jail free card, but there are still other consequences attached. That makes it very easy for a governor such as the above to exclude such traitors from holding state positions.

It feels dangerously like it’s targeting specific people though. Like “all felons” vs. “all felons named Dave”. I don’t know what the exact order is or what the laws say though.

You’re so right. We should also make sure that people who have been convicted of sex offenses against children can get jobs in preschools.

Edit: And it’s not targeting “all felons named Dave,” it applies to "all people who became felons because they chose to participate in a violent insurrection.

None of your comments here have been questions. You are stating what you think. I was making the point that what you think is stupid.
