I always find it amusing what animals we take for granted. The one person here is from Australia and is insanely jealous of our squirrels, where most people here probably either don’t notice them or think of them as pests. It feels like wherever there are trees, you’re almost guaranteed to have at least half a dozen squirrels. Meanwhile they have all these exciting looking birds and crazy marsupials and a bunch of other animals that look almost other- worldly to us in North America.
I’ve had a number of opportunities to see camels, and while they are neat, I’m always to nervous of getting spit on. They always seem to have a smartass look like they’re just waiting for me to get close enough. I’m a bit paranoid about horses too, so maybe it’s just me.
It is a downside to liking owls, in that they really do not enjoy being seen! If you ever get the opportunity to do so, you must.
I think goats are fun though. I’ve had a ton of great experiences with them. They’ve been having somewhat of a popularity surge due to Internet trends, though I think it’s dying down. For a moment, many farms and trendy places were offering “goat yoga” where the trendy housewives could pay to have goats stand on them while they do their yoga.
Yeah it’s boring to see the same 4 animals my entire life, which are rockdove pigeons, falcons, goats and camels. The first two are normal in the city, but the rest are only in the desert parts (which are everywhere but you have to drive a little to get to it) We also barely even have trees lol, though palms are mainly the only type (other than dead trees)
Camels spitting on you are the least of your concerns! They can also kill you with just their kick, or bite. But they only do that if you make them angry, but they hold grudges. Any time else they’re sweet :)
So are goats, you can actually occasionally see goat herders in villages with a huge herd, they’re somewhat stupid but lovable.
That is disappointing. I was hoping the Rockdove was at least something interesting, but it looks like the same ones we have here that just poop on everything.
I’ve never thought about a camel killing someone, but thinking about it, they’re definitely big enough. I didn’t know they got that grumpy though. The neck hug is sweet though!
Overall, between this thread and some of the politics stuff we’ve talked about before, you’re not doing your country’s tourism board any favors! 😁
