Fun rabbit hole I just went down: The book was an inspiration to the Shadowrun TTRPG (Strong’s Character name was the tip off).

You’re in the cyberpunk sub but you’d never heard of Neuromancer before?!`

I’m just coming off of All, not subscribed here. Just loosely interested. I’ll probably have to check out the book now that I’ve learned about it.

Don’t worry about it fam, if you’re on dbzer0 you’re automatically more cyberpunk than we who are not.

If you do end up reading Neuromancer feel free to post your thoughts on it, it’d be interesting.

It’s a masterpiece and one of the most influential novels of all time.

Oh yeah. They used the name Jake Armitage for the main character in Shadowrun for the SNES. I love that game! I’ve never actually played the TTRPG.

Closest I’ve gotten was the Sega Genesis version. It’s a totally different game from the SNES game and much more faithful to the TTRPG, albeit with far less dialogue and character development which I noticed.

I believe Armitage was a mononym in the book. It’s been a really long time since I read Neuromancer. I should ask my friend since he said he was going to read it a year ago.
