      The difference between a 5 A plug fuse and a 20 A breaker isn’t a lot when this thing is trying to burn your house down

      Except the house will have fuses and considering that electricity propagates at almost the speed of light it doesn’t really matter where they are. generators all have breakers now too.

      Nobody’s law requires it except the UK. But I’m pretty sure even the Americans have fuses on every outlet in their fusebox, so even a suicide cord like this won’t burn your house down.

      It will, however, wreck your generator when the power comes back on. It will also electrocute you if you grab it while plugged in.

        fun fact: australian power strips all have safety switches in them - not a fuse, and not on everything, but it covers most of the dumb things people do

        The UK only has fuses in the first place because they use ring circuits with a much higher current limit in the fuse box, to save on copper in the walls.
