Move forward? Do you not understand how fucked we are?

It’s gonna take nothing less than a major miracle to not succumb to an inevitable string of back-to-back-to-back disasaters of all types. Last time we got a global pandemic of a neurological biogenic weapon. Maybe this time it’ll only be volcanoes and fascism.

No. We’re not moving forward with the people who got us here. With luck, we’ll survive.

I’ve known how fucked we are since Bush v. Gore proved that American Democracy has always been a sham. Trump is nothing new, just an escalation of a trend that started in the 70’s.

Precisely. That’s why it’s so important that we stop playing the blame game and start getting organized.

That’s the hope, that we might all be able to build networks of mutual aid to get each other through the troubled times ahead.

I’ve known how fucked we are since Bush v. Gore proved that American Democracy has always been a sham.

Bush v. Gore was 2000, but it proved all 200+ years prior were a sham? No. A sham from then on, or even since the Regan era would be acceptable, but even then it’s an absolutist framing which is never true.

Trump is nothing new, just an escalation of a trend that started in the 70’s.

Having a literal, demented rapist felon in the white house is absolutely “new”. Not sure what trend in the 70’s you’re talking about. Reagan, I’d go with.

That’s why it’s so important that we stop playing the blame game and start getting organized.

“the blame game” is a republican rejoinder to avoid accountability. People who refused to vote for Harris to stop trump are responsible for trump being president. Not solely responsible, but it’s a reprehensible choice. They need to grok how fucked up a choice that was. Many apparently still do not. There will be ample reminders in the next few years.

That’s the hope, that we might all be able to build networks of mutual aid to get each other through the troubled times ahead.

we HAVE mutual networks. They’re now being burned down under the false premise that somehow their existence allows genocide in Palestine. Despite that not being true, it’s also hypocritical and myopic to consider such a connection. The non-voting left have fucked up, bigly.

I’m not suggesting things were ever close to perfect, or that change isn’t desperately needed. I’m suggesting that by refusing the one choice that would have made a difference when it mattered the most, the people who refused to stop trump should not be listened to. At best they’ve made the worst choice possible and need to understand that, at worst, they’re useful idiots.

I mean we’re a slave empire founded on tax evasion with a central ethos built around an eternal westward expansion that we ran out of room for a century and a half ago.

Seems like we were always a sham.

Just refocus your energy with the expectation that if you DO get to vote again, it’ll be entirely performative anyways. But remember that elections are expensive, so obviously we can cut that from the budget. Or we could do the fake elections and use it as a gift to take in bribes from corporations.

Whether or not we see elections again isn’t really important. The important part is the organization we’ll need to get as many people as possible through the years ahead.

Agreed. That’s kind of the point. But also… More Dems need to embrace being armed for self defense. If you’ve heard of Rs having hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammo and dozens of guns, you should have at least one.
