Maybe? I’m choosing to believe he means the god whose son advocated for taking care of each other, while also advocating kicking the shit out of the moneylenders and corrupt politicians.

There are very, very few red letter xtians in this country. At least in my anecdotal experience. I was raised in an immediate (and extended) family that was into the liberal sects of xtianity.

As soon as I started talking to other xtians in elementary school, I quickly realized that there are very different kinds of xtianity, that’s for sure. And most of them are radically right wingers that seem to have zero awareness of the red letter portions…except as something to be clipped and put up somewhere to feel self-righteous (but never follow it). Just a mob of Karens obsessed with judging others and doing nothing for anyone - their circle of care often didn’t even extend to their own kids.

I know, I live here too. I think it was Carlin who specifically talked about how American Christianity involves stepping over the poor and hungry so you don’t get your Sunday best dirty on the way to church, or something along those lines.

Like Carlin, I’m just pointing out that there was a whole bit in the bible about Jesus assaulting moneylenders at the temple. Their book makes it very clear that those people deserved violence, and I think it’s pretty clear who the modern equivalents are - grifters, charlatans, hypocrites who claim belief but don’t act accordingly - so that’s the context I choose to interpret the statement in.

Where did I say I was a Christian? I just know about the religion. I recommend study for you too, maybe starting with how to not be a massive chode to randoms you know nothing about for literally no reason.

naw. ignorance and belief in fairy tails should be something we all fight against. to condone them in almost any fashion allows for the ‘right of divinity’ to harm others.

the only good religion is a secular one

Again, you seem to be responding from the point of view that I believe in the religion. I don’t. The “money lenders at the temple” is an allegory for, amongst other things, people who profess to believe but don’t follow any of the rules that comes along with believing.

You know who those people are. It’s ironic that one of them should be asking us all to take more seriously a religion that calls strongly for them to get their shit kicked in.
