Summary

The U.S. Senate confirmed Kash Patel as FBI director in a 51-49 vote on Thursday.

His nomination, marked by controversy over his loyalty to Trump, raises concerns about the bureau’s independence.

Patel, a former public defender turned prosecutor and top aide in the Trump administration, declined to rule out politically motivated investigations, particularly against Trump’s opponents.

His confirmation follows his contentious role in the Trump classified documents case and reflects his alignment with a unitary executive model.

They didn’t. Not even one voted to confirm Patel.

      From the article:

Democrats have unanimously considered Patel’s track record in the first Trump administration, his incendiary remarks criticizing the bureau he was nominated to lead and more generally his role in the classified documents case to be disqualifying.

[Patel] wins confirmation in 51-49 Senate vote

All Dems voted against as well as two independents and two republicans.

While I am sick to death of posters that keep taking it out an the Dems for not managing to stop the Republican’s evil, I would like to know why they didn’t filibuster. It’s my understanding that they could have done so and held up the approval for an indefinite amount of time. That would have made the news and they could have gone on the talk show circuit harping on everything wrong with this and other nominees.

the gop/donors probably gave backdoor deals to some of the dems not to vote against it, or confirm some of the unqualified trump picks. i wonder if some of those DINOs dont care about getting re-elected.

Always a possibility when companies can offer ex-politicians cushy lobbying jobs once they’re out of office.

i suspect they gave something to some thing to thee dems, to vote for trumps confirmation picks, much like with how they dealt with manchin the whole time. they usually do that when they arnt getting re-elected, or they are planning to switch parties? and also thier lucrative lobbying jobs.
