After the combative Oval Office meeting, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Zelenskyy 'can come back when he is ready for peace,' upending talks to ending the war in Ukraine.
The footage of this meeting is truly remarkable and worth watching.
I think it’s important to watch uncut unedited footage of meetings like this from time to time, to see the behaviour of leaders first hand. Otherwise it is too easy to just get swept up in the narrative of whatever social bubble you interact with.
In this meeting Trump demonstrates a total disinterest in any past events or context for current decisions; but he becomes quite animated and angry at the end of the video. Apparently he felt criticised and wanted to hit back. But he didn’t seem to be paying much attention at all to what was being said.
Zelenskyy is calm throughout, but has clear frustration as Vance and Trump speak over the top of him. Trump accuses Zelenskyy of total disrespect, and says he is ‘gambling with World War III’.
Really, it is worth watching. See how leaders of the USA behave.
It’s literally a national embarrassment caused solely by Trump because his fee-fees were hurt.
In the past week, we’ve seen Trump sitting in the oval office and making a national embarrassment of himself in front of THREE separate world leaders: France, the UK, and now Ukraine. Three. In one week.
When you view all of his behavior over the last month and his first term with the context that he’s been a Russian asset the entire time, it all makes sense. It’s not embarrassing, it’s deliberate.
And it’s a huge tell. People know that if they come in and basically tell Trump what a big manly man he is, Trump will just give them everything they want anyway. It’s not even a secret. World leaders have gone into press conferences basically saying as much.
I’d love to play poker with the man. I swear you could just keep dealing me a 2 of diamonds and a basic Forest from Magic: the Gathering, and I’d still be able to take the guy’s house in about an hour. And I’d play with my hand face up.
Trump must have been convinced that Zelensky owed him so much and was so desperate that he could say and make him do whatever he wanted.
But no you orange asswipe, Zelensky is a man (by the most complementary definition).
Trump got showed up as a bullying whiner - a shrew who tries to berate people into giving him respect that he hasn’t earned and doesn’t deserve.
Edit: Adding this to help Ukraine >>
If, like me, anyone wants to show their feelings this is a great time to donate to Zelensky’s fund to help Ukraine.
I hope it blows up and next time he’s at the white house Zelensky can use his time in front of the media to thank us for donating huge amounts… biggest donations ever seen… Lol
And Zelensky called him out on it. He literally told Vance that he’s never been to Ukraine, and Vance literally responded with the political equivalent of “I’m not a real army general, but I saw one on TV once.” . Like holy shit, you watched some news reports and you think that gives you the right to tell a leader of another country how to fight a war when you don’t even have the fucking balls to stand up to your own boss, who’s long since shown to be a fucking cuck himself?
Fuck JD Vance. Him, Trump, and Musk. I hope they all fucking choke on each other’s toes.
And for the record, I’m not saying Zelensky is perfect, but right now I’d consider him the greatest wartime leader since Churchill. 3 years in, and he’s at least holding a stalemate against an enemy that on paper should have been able to roll over him in 3 days. There any way we could send Trump over there and have Zelensky run here? I’d take him gladly over anybody in our government right now.
It was unavoidable. Really. I mean, what did you expect? The only other option available was voting for a <gasp!> black woman. No need to get crazy or anything here.
Is this really that weird? I feel like I have been to work meetings with more intensity. Also my read on it was that Zelensky was super annoying. The way he interrupted Trump and Vance all the time even though they are in charge of the situation and location. I know Trump does it too, but dude that’s not how you handle this situation. You’d think that Zelensky would know that. Any middle manager in corporate America would handle it with more grace. Sheesh
I work with some Ukrainian and Israeli contractors. They are much more direct than the typical American, and there was some cultural calibration that had to happen on both sides of the relationship.
Of course any competent international businessman or seasoned politician would already know this and navigate those cultural differences as a matter of course.
Agreed. So I don’t understand why he was so bad at this. Maybe because he had very positive experiences all those previous years? But it was because in the past his peers were aligned with him. This is the first time in his career when it’s no longer the case and he totally blew it.
This isn’t middle management. This was trump and vance acting like children towards our allies. This was trump and vance and maga showing they’re putins cock sleeve. It’s crazy how much you trump supporters will lick the taint and swallow the balls just to try and make trump look competent.
Trump and Vance are russian assets and should be tried for treason.
And? Was it such a high price to pay for his country salvation? It’s not a book about good and evil. There are real lives at stake. Zelensky’s honor is not notre important than any soldier’s life.
Kissing the ring is not what was going on here. Trump is trying to force a deal that doesn’t do shit for Ukraine but strip them of future income to rebuild.
The invasion is still happening, and it will continue to happen no matter what trump does, because trump is putins lapdog.
Bending the knee to putin is maximizing the negative impact.
You’re either a russian troll or an idiot. The freeworld is on Zelenskys, and trump just showed the world that the USA is no longer on the side of democracy or freedom.
The second part of his visit was to discuss guarantees behind the closed doors. Which is why he was trying to steer the discussion towards that topic. He just did it so hamfistedly that Vance and Trump took it as a personal attack. Any half assed politician especially on international arena could have avoided that. It’s all it was: failed negotiation. The fact that people see some kind of inspiration behind this failure is just pathetic misread of the situation
Wtf are you talking about? Zelensky was the first one to offer to sell his mineral rights in October. Trump just took him up on the offer. Behind the closed doors they had full opportunity to discuss guarantees. Instead we have this bs.
Sell yes, meaning Ukraine gets something in return…
But Trump goes “ok give us the minerals, bye”.
What kind of deal is that, Ukraine gets nothing, that’s not even a proper business transaction…
Thats plain saying give me your money or the guy with the gun takes it from you.
In a real deal the least Zelensky/Ukraine expects to get in return is full and lasting protection against Putin walzing in and taking Ukraine anyway.
In his WW3 rant Trump also seems to forget Zelensky/Ukraine is already at war (though putin is the one calling it a 3 day police action), and the only one gambling for WW3 is Trump by whining about demanding minerals for nothing in return.
Ofcourse it’s full on clear by now Trump expects Putin to walz in anyway, destroy Ukraine and pay Trump personally a 1% finders fee for the minerals.
Yeah, nah my take was Zelenskyy was frustrated to be there, coddling up to putins peppers while his people are being killed. He went from having a trusted reliable partner to someone who’s parroting Kremlin talking points, and implying that it was Ukraines fault in the matter of months. He’s not a middle manager, they are both their respective countries leaders.
Well he sucks as a leader. Instead of negotiating ,he throws hissy feet. What a small thing to say thanks guys what a wonderful administration and then have a real discussion behind closed doors. Instead he just put his country in terrible position. This was so ducking predictable. He could have salvaged it so many times but he chose to be stubborn and now his people will pay for it. That’s right: it was in essence his political career vs lives of people. He chose his career. I know those are Ukrainian lives so you don’t care about them, but to me that was the height of idiocy. I hope Zelensky is remembered as a murderer. He had a choice to negotiate surrender in 2022 and he had a choice today. He just did what was convenient for him instead.
I’m actually registered Democrat and left leaning at that. Doesn’t mean I can’t point out bs when I see it even if it goes against the grain of the party.
I don’t care about Ukrainian lives? Fuck right off bud, nah this is so pure trumps fault. You’re mad that Zelenskyy didn’t pucker up to trumps putrid orange asshole
Him not puckering out is bad for Ukraine. His alliance with us was tenuous at best after Trump got in office, but now he’s risking to lose it completely just because he’s a bad negotiator. There were so many opportunities to do this better even without saying to much. He’s just a bad politician. Lacking experience. His mistake was to speak in English too. Totally avoidable.
He could have waited until they finish talking and say exactly what he was going to say. It came out unprofessional. Not that Trump is professional, but Trump is a Trump and in the end Zelensky was there to ask for support. Instead he tried to demand it. Dumb.
He could have waited until they finish talking and say exactly what he was going to say. It came out unprofessional.
So he was just supposed to sit there and say nothing while Vance dresses him down like a cuck for the world to see?
World leaders don’t do that. Macron didn’t let Trump finish when Trump was lying, and neither did Stammer. Zelensky shouldn’t be expected to do it either.
Not that Trump is professional, but Trump is a Trump
That is absolutely no excuse. Plus, it was Vance who started it. He knows better, and chose to insult Zelensky anyway.
and in the end Zelensky was there to ask for support.
Asking for support does not and should not require the political equivalent of having to go on live television and beg mommy and daddy for a few table scraps while they tell you that you aren’t being thankful enough for being allowed to sit at the adults table in the first place.
Their whole purpose was to make Zelinsky come over and kiss the ring, and then embarrass him in front of the world stage. They had Russian media there, but AP and Reuters were banned. MTG’s husband asked why the man didn’t wear a suit. And Vance and Trump just kept dressing him down over and over again. The whole point was to embarrass the man on the world stage to please almighty Putin.
Instead he tried to demand it. Dumb.
The man stood up for his country, and refused to turn himself into one of Trump’s cucks. He was perfectly willing to kiss the ring until they decided that he needed to be humiliated too.
Literally nothing changed for him. At the price of being slightly uncomfortable he could have saved his country. Now he condemned countless lives to the death. Because he couldn’t what? Sit quiet for a minute? Hold his tongue? I bet any> of those people dying right now on the front line would beg him to do it

The “you don’t didn’t say thank you part” was so cringe.
It’s cringe every time he says it.
And it’s a huge tell. People know that if they come in and basically tell Trump what a big manly man he is, Trump will just give them everything they want anyway. It’s not even a secret. World leaders have gone into press conferences basically saying as much.

Reminded me of an abusive parent.
‘After everything I’ve done for you!’
Trump must have been convinced that Zelensky owed him so much and was so desperate that he could say and make him do whatever he wanted.

Where can you watch the unedited video?
Edit: Seems like this is it. https://youtu.be/ayBRXIN9Kro
Double edit: It’s obvious that Couch Fucker Vance was told to tank this. He went as combative as possible.

Vance needs a fucking good slap, how Zelenskyy didn’t get up and lay one on him is remarkable
Musk, Vance, and Trump were in the same room??? How did we fuck this up?
It was unavoidable. Really. I mean, what did you expect? The only other option available was voting for a <gasp!> black woman. No need to get crazy or anything here.
Trump wants his life to be reality TV, and he is acting like it.
Is this really that weird? I feel like I have been to work meetings with more intensity. Also my read on it was that Zelensky was super annoying. So you think it’s ok for a country to be invaded, and attacked…and it should just roll over and enslave itself?
Invasion has already happened. As a country leader he has an obligation to minimize negative impact. Even at the cost of “kissing the ring.”
Kissing the ring is not what was going on here. Trump is trying to force a deal that doesn’t do shit for Ukraine but strip them of future income to rebuild.
The invasion is still happening, and it will continue to happen no matter what trump does, because trump is putins lapdog.

Nope. Zelensky was the first one suggesting the deal in October last year. See here point number 4 https://www.president.gov.ua/en/news/plan-peremogi-skladayetsya-z-pyati-punktiv-i-troh-tayemnih-d-93857

What? Is truth hard to hear, you baby killing Nazi?
The p in gop stands for protection. Stop projecting
I’m actually registered Democrat and left leaning at that. Doesn’t mean I can’t point out bs when I see it even if it goes against the grain of the party.
Bull. Fucking. Shit
You haven’t spoken the truth since you were shit out of your worthless mother.

He interrupted when Vance was literally telling Zelensky that he didn’t kiss the ring enough during a live fucking press conference. Literally.
He interrrupted when Vance said that he watched a few news reports and therefore that gave him the right to dictate how Zelensky handles the war.
They were trying to turn Zelensky into Trump’s cuck and Zelensky wouldn’t stand for it.
He could have waited until they finish talking and say exactly what he was going to say. It came out unprofessional. Not that Trump is professional, but Trump is a Trump and in the end Zelensky was there to ask for support. Instead he tried to demand it. Dumb.

You don’t bow down to dictatorial filth unless you’re a republican piece of trash.
Did you take that line from Harry Potter or something? Jesus Christ, are you nine?
