I didn’t even realize how long I’d been using Apollo until all this stuff happened. It’s been the only way I’ve used Reddit for five years. Not having access to it anymore really hurts. Christian did such a phenomenal job of making Apollo feel incredibly intuitive and customizable without feeling overly cluttered. I’m really going to miss spending my time lurking over there.

Damn, me too. It sounds so cheesy but it was really integral to me in keeping up with news, etc, etc, etc. I hate that Reddit did all that.

It’s kind of wild how much of an impact a single app can have on us. But it makes sense. Apollo was so amazing because of how thoughtful Christian was about growing and expanding features. And because he was so responsive to what we wanted and asked for. I can’t think of another app I use where the developer interacts with the community of users to the extent Christian did. Which makes how Reddit and spez treated the situation a million times more disrespectful.

I don’t think it’s cheesy at all. At the end of the day, Reddit was a community of internet weirdos that I enjoyed being a part of and having to let that go after all this time is painful. But I’m excited to be a part of lemmy and to watch it grow as a community.
