Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.
Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).
I was doing lots of traveling this past week, but managed to sneak in manga here and there. So, here are some highlights:
Lots of fun with this one this past week. I haven’t fully caught up with what’s on MD, but got ~120 chapters in (each chapter is just a single page). Basic premise is that there are two heroes that both have hidden identities as high schoolers. The boy transforms into a magical-girl looking hero that is super cute, while the girl transforms into a Sentai-style battle suit that is super cool. Each hero admires the other while they also actually like each other as their alter-egos, unaware of their heroic identities. There are never any actual stakes, just some good fun.
This is a series that premiered this past week with its first chapter. The notable bit about this series that has me super interested is that it is being written by the author of Pseudo Harem, an excellent series. This one kind of feels similar in that there is seems to be a romantic pair that will inevitably end up together. I am looking forward to see where this one goes.
This is a long strip comic that I found in the recent updates this past week. It sets up a pretty dark story. Basically, as a kid, the lead imagined her reflection in the mirror is an alternate version of herself that does whatever she wants. As she grew up, she was basically abused by her grandmother and had her life dictated to her. So, one day on her way to cram school, she looked at her reflection in the train window and her alternate self took over. It seems like this is a supernatural story rather than some kind of split personality. It’s got my interest so far, so I will see where it goes from here.
