Was banned on a totally different instance and community despite never commenting in the community.

I suspect I was banned for questioning the narrative in this thread yesterday:

I am a trans person and have no issue with trans people expressing who they are. The mods and admins of blahaj frequently use Gatekeeping as a false umbrella ban for any user they want to get rid of. This is also discussed in yesterday’s thread by some users.

The owners of that 196 space have proven they are unable to let sleeping dogs lie and are hellbent on tearing down all other instances in a tribal war, and have decided to start lurking in other spaces and preemptively banning people like reddit mods.

This is not fair moderation practices, it’s a petty tit for tat because abuse in their community was called out yesterday.

As much as I hate to agree with them, spujb is right about this one. Ada made her stance on the matter clear, and IIRC, it’s an official rule now.

So a preemptive ban isn’t exactly uncalled for here considering the disrespect in that last screenshot…

      Okay?

“The rules are the rules” seems to run contrary to the spirit of this place.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Furthermore, the issue is compounded by the fact that the rule is being applied for behavior outside of that space.

Are we looking at the same screenshot?

I’m on mobile so I can’t reply and read the screenshot at the same time, but it said something that implied certain neopronouns are delusional, or “not living in reality.”

It’s disrespectful whether you think she’s right or wrong. And what’s perhaps even worse than that, it mirrors what right wingers say about trans people in general. We’re better than that.

When they ask about neopronouns? And then are corrected on the matter, as neopronouns were unrelated to the issue despite multiple people bringing it up in bad faith?

dude get it into your head that trans people are absolutely miserable and getting treated like shit EVERYWHERE on the internet right now. go to instagram. go to facebook. go to tiktok. fuck, go to reddit, you will see an INSANE amount of antitrans rhetoric. under ANY trans person’s content, there will inevitably be at least one fucking comment questioning their identity.

you don’t empathize because you have never faced it. imagine waking up every. singe. day. knowing that you will be a victim and there’s nothing to do about it.

ONE WOMAN. only ONE person hosting ONE space has put effort into making sure no trans person will EVER experience that by doing a VERY SIMPLE RULE: blanket ban. take it elsewhere. and guess what? IT BALOONED. more than TWO THOUSAND people migrated between 196 communities, because THEY FELT COMFORTABLE in the space Ada creates.

do you tell Black people how to run their internet spaces? what about Yemenis or Palestinians who also face genocide? the arrogance.

Oh cool, so you’re going to harass a trans person on the internet in response to that! Lovely.

you don’t empathize because you have never faced it. imagine waking up every. singe. day. knowing that you will be a victim and there’s nothing to do about it.

“You’ve never faced the fear of being a victim because you’re just some impoverished, intermittently homeless disabled mixed-race guy.”

              Yes, I have no idea.

This is exactly the reason why you bullied a trans user off this space. You have no capacity to consider the world around you. Everything is interpreted through an egocentric lens.

ONE WOMAN. only ONE person hosting ONE space has put effort into making sure no trans person will EVER experience that by doing a VERY SIMPLE RULE: blanket ban. take it elsewhere. and guess what? IT BALOONED.

That’s funny considering the conduct towards numerous trans folk who’ve disagreed with her. But they’re gone now - banned, reduced to atoms - so you can pretend they never existed.

more than TWO THOUSAND people migrated between 196 communities, because THEY FELT COMFORTABLE in the space Ada creates.

I’d put that much more up to the atrocious way the 196 mods attempted the move.
