U.S. President Donald Trump directed the U.S. to pause all assistance to Ukraine as he seeks to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to engage in peace talks with Russia.

The decision appears to halt arms deliveries approved under the Biden administration, but it was not clear whether deliveries of ammunition for weapons systems already in Ukraine would be affected.

Ukraine, which depends heavily on foreign help to hold back the Russian invasion that began on Feb. 24 2022, has feared that aid could be stopped since Trump took office.

Our (Denmark) defense minister Troels Lund Poulsen just stated that this will. have significant impact on Ukraine’s ability to defend itself.

OK that’s true, but how was this outcome not viewed as extremely likely already when Trump was elected?
It’s a bit late to act surprised now, we had hoped it wouldn’t get to this, but everybody with more than 2 brain cells absolutely 100% expected this could happen.

At least it looks like Europe and Canada is taking this serious, and has prepared to increase aid for the past 2 weeks. But it should have been at least the past ½ year!!!

USA can currently not be considered an ally of Europe, or even NATO, and they are traitors to democracy. This is NOT just Trump, it is America as a whole!!!

And not an ally to Canada. Canada will be kind of invaded by the north by Russia, and by the south by USA.

True, it’s absolutely insane the rhetoric the US administration is using about Canada. Also the tariffs are crazy, like WTF???
Obviously the real reason can’t be fentanyl, firstly because there is no reason to believe that would come from Canada in any significant amount, second because a tariff obviously doesn’t do anything to stop drug trafficking.

        US politics is a madhouse.

Canada is responsible for less than 1% of fentanyl entering the USA. Trump, however, wants his tarrifs and it’s difficult to impose them legally because we have signed trade agreements (that he signed). In order to skirt this, he declares a national emergency based on a fabricated border crises. This allows him to use presidential powers that are reserved for such crisis and circumvent the normal process.

Like a good little Hitler, an agreement with Trump isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.
