It all depends on how reddit was coded from the beginning, how they prepared everything for expansion and lastly how they ended up implementing all the things that were added to the codebase over the years.
This inconsistency is a little indicator of a codebase i would be happy to never have to lay my eyes upon.
but when it would be removed, then the entire thread would be just not there; and I shouldn’t be able to upvote or even comment in it?

This makes me think of websites like Walgreens mobile site where it loads the old design first then updates to the new design lol.
