As a socialist and internationalist, I abhor war. But the basic premise of self-determination justifies the resistance of ordinary Ukrainians to Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion of our country.
I’m surprised that any leftist could support Russia in this war. It’s litteraly the remake of nazi Germany invading Poland. Fortunately Ukraine held firm, but I would have liked Europe to be more involved instead of hiding behind nato.
On the other hand, I agree that western countries and nato gave reasons for Russia to go full nazi by antagonising and isolating it. But this is even more of a responsibility for nato and western powers to solve this conflict the right way, which is the capitulation with no condition from Russia.
