Summary

House Republicans cannot meet their budget target without major cuts to Medicare or Medicaid, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

Their budget plan requires $880 billion in cuts, but with Medicare excluded, Medicaid makes up 93% of the available funds.

This puts Republicans in a bind between conservative hard-liners demanding cuts and moderates opposing reductions to essential health programs.

While Trump claims Medicaid will be untouched, Speaker Mike Johnson argues it has excessive fraud.

So don’t encourage despair in Americans. It’ll be a lot easier if half of us are on your side, both trying to save America from fascism.

You know what, fair point. It wasn’t meant to encourage despair as much as vent my jadedness, and express my frustration at the fact that so many people still think this is just some shitty people in an otherwise democratic context…

But yes, super fair point. I hope you all find a way to uprise and fight this. You have a lot of friends up here.

Thank you. And I certainly get that. Honestly it wasn’t my idea, I found someone who said something very similar (better than me), and they were absolutely right.

It’s certainly feeling way to Weimar Republic in here. And it’s largely fueled by Americans getting their news from Facebook and Twitter.
