I’m not trying to defeatist, but that kind of class solidarity requires an education as to why such class solidarity matters. The rich have access the best educations that teach them the value of keeping their system enriching their small group. The poor have no such thing and likely never will.
You can’t magically make the poor get it, they have to be educated, and that takes time, effort, money that most of the poor simply do not have.
I don’t think it’s hopeless, but it requires organisation to spread this understanding among people who won’t go looking for it and may be initially hostile to it. The basics of class consciousness are not that hard to grasp if presented clearly. The challenge is how to get people listening at all. You can’t just have some college-educated stranger start shouting this at people. It requires building a political movement skilfully, bit by bit, among working-class people who can take ownership of it.
The rich will stop fucking the poor when the poor have as much class solidarity as the rich.
