    It’s likely though that Moomin is referring to the finnish dessert “pannukakku” which is a very different thing than what most english speakers will think of when using the word.

    It’s made in an oven, not on the stove. (Which is why it makes sense that “all I have to do is wait”) The finnish word for pancake would actually be “lettu” though even that is more like a crêpe.

      In a stroke of creativity, the Swedish names for these are translated as “Oven Pancakes” and “Pancakes”.

      Looks a bit like a Yorkshire Pudding, which is also made of a baked batter
