I’m not surprised. They’re more expensive and far more inconvenient than petrol or diesel cars.

When electric cars are cheaper than petrol cars and when I can fill one up in 2 minutes I’ll consider buying one and not before.

This is Tesla sales, not EV sales. It strikes me as indicative of people finally deciding that they aren’t willing to give money to a company whose public face is Musk.

I don’t really care who runs a company. That never factors into my decisions.

But i’ll NEVER own an EV because they are cars for morons. When hydrogen cars are the norm i’ll stop buying diesel cars.

Hydrogen is the real fuel of the future. It’s 100% clean, abundant and takes as long to refuel as a petrol car.

As soon as they work out storage and transport of hydrogen cost effectively it’s game over for fossil fuels and conventional EVs.

I was talking about hydrogen. It’s not a fuel. It is not abundant. It literally escapes the earth completely when released into the atmosphere. Stuff containing hydrogen is abundant, not the same thing, because the hydrogen has already given up its energy to get there. Hydrogen has to be manufactured, possibly through electrolysis (putting in more energy than burning the hydrogen back into water) or, as is much more common and cheaper… made from fossil fuels.

No, it really isn’t. It’s not abundant in accessible forms without using a shit ton of energy and rare metals.

Storage will never be solved. Even if magically we could compress it to a reasonable volume and kept the tank small, it’s still a literal bomb inside of a car. A bomb that can explode twice, and much bigger than gas, diesel, or batteries.

Hydrogen will never be a reality because we will just keep using gas and diesel, with emissions filters, making them very clean. Its conservative propaganda that’s been around my entire life that the next evil progressive is gonna ban ICE cars. So they weirdly started drinking the kool-aid about hydrogen.

Hydrogen is abundant with abundant renewables. Electrolysis is only/best by far path to unlimited renewables and unlimited energy.

It’s not a reason to avoid EVs for personal use now, as they are getting pretty good, but FC range extenders will be available eventually. Commercial vehicles need the range and refueling speed. Only countries that stop hating China can hope for H2 economy, because US dominated countries will be sabotaged from cheap renewables and electrolysis.

      Yeah, no, that’s completely false.

You know how long it takes to refuel my car? About 5 seconds. That’s about how long it takes to drag the connector over and plug it in before I head inside.

I also don’t have to worry about being mugged inside the store, having things stolen from my vehicle, or even the vehicle itself stolen, or having my credit card skimmed and stolen.

Take off the foil hat and calm down.

If I want to go somewhere further than a tank of diesel will allow it takes about 2 minutes to refuel and I’m away again. It is simply not possible to recharge any EV in 5 seconds. Once your battery is empty you’re in for a long wait.

Also if you’re worried about being mugged and having things stolen from your car you need to move and remember to lock your car before going in to pay. Or pay at the pump.

Plus the chances of your card being cloned with a chip and pin machine in a shop are so close to zero its not even worth worrying about. But in than 1 in a million chance it happened if you’re smart enough to have a bank account with protection you’ll be covered.

Petrol and Diesel are so much more convenient its worth paying slightly more for the fuel.

EV’s are more of a statement. “look at ME! I care about the environment!” Do you bollocks. You’re just after cheap electricity.

Most of the world doesn’t have drives needing more than a full EV battery, not even most of the US. EV sales are up, and in a lot of places, it’s shifting to be the norm.

Buying ICE, especially a truck when you don’t need one is a statement, not buying an EV like everyone else.

Sorry, are you really just going to deny the many crimes taking place at gas stations?

Once your battery is empty you’re in for a long wait.

Your battery should never be empty. With modern charging tech it’s usually ~15 mins. at a fast charger to go 10-80%. The car is usually ready before me.

Plus the chances of your card being cloned with a chip and pin machine in a shop are so close to zero

You’re out of your depth. This still happens all the time.

EV’s are more of a statement

          LOL no.

I’m guessing you’re American. The rest of the world isn’t quite the crime ridden hellhole.

As for charging. Filling my car up doesn’t damage the fuel tank. Fast charging a battery is not good for them.

Do you think burning diesel doesn’t “damage” your engine? Do you think transmissions last indefinitely?

I’m not sure where you’re getting your info from. But after 10 years of fast charging an EV’s battery’s will be royally fucked.

But 10 years for a petrol or diesel car is nothing. My last car was 15 years old and ran like a dream until an old biddy pressed the accelerator instead of the brake in her car and wrote mine off.

You don’t need to go to a gas station for most of those things to happen, either. Actually, a gas station is probably safer that your average store parking lot, so you should probably avoid those as well.

Now that I think about it, any time my cars have been broken into, I have been home. Any time my card was skimmed, it wasn’t at a gas station.

Your fear of gas stations seems unrealistic.
