Summary

Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, said ICE can “absolutely” deport legal immigrants, including green card holders, if they commit crimes.

He cited Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian protester at Columbia University arrested by ICE, as an example.

Homan’s statement followed Sen. Marco Rubio’s call to revoke visas and green cards of Hamas supporters. Immigration advocates condemned the arrest, calling it suppression of political speech.

Green cards can be revoked for crimes or security threats, but Khalil has not been convicted of a crime. Over 1 million people signed a petition for his release.

Went over the section of law they’re likely using today. If this is what they’re going for then they’re trying to designate everyone who participated in Pro-Palestinian protests as members of a terrorist organization or directly supporting terrorists. Obviously this is a massive 1st Amendment violation. In the most dry sense they can deport legal immigrants who commit crimes or make themselves a legitimate security concern, (by actually participating in terrorism). But this is nowhere near that.
