I’ve been planning a month-long trip to Japan with my sister and my soon to be wife. We have already planned out quite a few things we want to do, but if this was you, what would you want to see or do? Keep in mind that we’re all rather old (I’ll be turning 50 shortly).

Look up what you’re allowed to see in Japan. Lots of areas do not allow tourists.

If you’re stairway abled then find a mountain shinto shrine. Make sure you pass the same number of torii on your way out.

It’s not a lot of places, it’s pretty rare to go somewhere where they don’t allow any tourists. I think there was a news article about Japan suddenly cracking down on tourists after some scummy content creatures went there to be a nuisance but it’s really overblown. As long as you’re being respectful and attempting to communicate with Google translate or speaking some Japanese you’ll be good.

Shinto shrine was beautiful, good call!
