    I think that’s a losing strategy. Even if it would win votes (arguable), if they get desperate and think they might actually have to pay for their crimes they’ll go to even more extreme lengths than they are now. This meeting of the generals, for instance, could have actually been Saddam style purge.

    If it’s a disagreement over government, many of the people running things might be willing to allow the votes to happen. If they think they’re going to hang, then it’s “us against them”.

      That is true of every criminal throughout history. That is the logic of fear. “Oh, if I call the cops, he said he’ll kill me. Let’s try to resolve things without him getting mad.”

      Call the fucking cops. It is time to call the fucking cops. The fear to speak up about the nature of what is going on, and specifically what should be done about it because then they might get really mad, is doing about 75% of their work for them right now.
