Did open air painting again with my mom and some friends.
The proportions are off on the one I did while there (title image). Clearly I need to take measurements. The one from reference I added more atmosphere to help portray the depth I could see while there.

That’s because your eye is not a camera. Rembrandt would have his students make the OK symbol with their hand and put it up to their nose. What’s in the circle should be detailed and focused and everything out should be diffused because that’s how the eye works in reality. We don’t pick up detail all at once like a camera does. Something my painting teacher told me in the last class
I don’t understand the okay symbol bit, I tried and all I see is finger lol
