There’s nothing I can say that will get through to him, so I’ve given up trying.

He’s part of a cult (a fundamentalist sect of Christianity) that confirms all of his bigotry and tells him that his word has the power of law over his family simply because he’s the paterfamilias.

I know the word is overused, but he’s quite literally a narcissist; I’ve never had a conversation with the man where he will even consider an opinion other than the one he already holds.
