Is the correct response to violence always nonviolence?

If so, that directly contradicts the fact that my grandad was considered a hero for enacting violence on fascists in Europe

No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
