How about actually using his power? There is SO MUCH he can do, he’s the senior, ranking Democrat, everyone gets their marching orders from him.
They can vote against funding ICE for one, they can stop giving up power and folding on issues like the healthcare, he can organize structured filibusters to stop damaging policy, he can publicize what’s being said behind closed doors and demand registered democrats pay attention to what’s going on to pressure the system with their old-money and influence, he can make legal threats and organize impeachments of everyone from the president to cabinet members down to the goddamn cleaning staff. And I’m not even like, a constitutional lawyer, I don’t know jack shit and I can think of dozens of things he could do. Imagine what he could do as a “expert” on policy and procedure.
He can start realizing that his time is drawing to a close and we need active, powerful social protections and social policies in the US instead of the shit he advocates and votes on, which is the all the shit that led us here in the first place. He can do SOMETHING AT ALL.
He has done fuck-all and stayed in the shadows except to disappoint people. If he was actually powerless then he needs to fucking demonstrate it by showing us him actually trying to DO something.
This guy gets all the same donors as the GOP, he’s part of the same system, he’s been preserving it for decades, maybe centuries, I dunno how far this goes or what they’re all huffing together back there, but he’s not looking out for Americans, he’s deranged and lives in a weird bubble-universe of civility politics and made-up families he cares about who praise his every decision, and that’s not even an exaggeration, he has talked about it in depth.
We need to flush every incumbent democrat, empty the container, refill it with something that hasn’t gone bad ages ago.
I agree with all of this, he has been a disappointment and his apathy has been a large part of why there haven’t been enough progressives in US politics. I agree on all points but it just feels like that lays on more people’s heads than his.
