On Piers Morgan Uncensored, Schlapp was part of a panel discussion about the war in Iran and the bombing of the girls’ school that killed an estimated 175 people (nearly all young children). Journalist Peter Beinart argued to host Morgan that the United States and Israel were to blame even if the school was somehow hit by an Iranian missile.
“We know that if the U.S. and Israel had not attacked a country that poses no serious threat to them—Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons, America has thousands—that those girls would be alive,” Beinart said. Schlapp immediately jumped in.
“They’d be alive in a burqa,” Schlapp said, adding “this is … a barbaric society,” before Morgan cut in and asked him to “hang on.”
He means what he means which is better dead than alive in a burka. How do you get where he is coming from. Also irsn do not require a burka which hide everything minus the eyes
I get the “logic” point he was trying to make. He’s trying to say that “repression of women’s rights is bad, mmmmkay” (which is really fucking rich coming from a fascist). Bringing it up as a “whataboutism” during a conversation about killing children is disgusting and deplorable.
Again his logic is : it is better for girls to be dead then be forced to use a burka.
I don’t think that’s exactly what he was saying but what he was doing isn’t much better.
Again, I’m not defending that fascist. His take, in any interpretation, is disgusting.
