    Ironically, classical and baroque string players are the most likely to use catgut strings nowadays. So uh, the genre may be animal less, but not animal free

      I think if someone told me they used real cat gut I would shun them and tell everyone I know they’re a piece of shit.

        oh, don’t worry, catgut ≠ cat gut. It’s actually made from sheep or goat (and sometimes cattle, hog, horse, mule or donkey) intestines so it’s totally socially acceptable.
